Day, The Week and The Weather

This week just flew by.  Here's what we've been up to:

Sara stayed home sick on Tuesday with a sore throat and a cough.  I was afraid it might develop into the strep throat that's going around, but luckily, a day home with Mitch cured her.

Wednesday, I got a call about a job I applied for a few weeks ago.  It was a phone interview - right then even - and they said they'd call about an in-house interview.  I got that call today and will go there next Thursday morning.  We'll see where this goes.

Thursday night, Jacob and I went to a meeting at the middle school about the accelerated program he was accepted into for next year.  One of his good friends from his class was also accepted and he recognized one girl he knows from band, but otherwise, the other kids were all brand new to him.  There will be 32 7th graders in the program and it runs for both 7th and 8th grade.  It's an advanced history and English program.  There was some concern about this program interfering with band, but since the middle school has 4 music programs (Beginning Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band and Advanced Band), the teacher I talked to said he will be able to be in one of those.  We will have to talk to the band director and see where he wants Jacob and what will work with the scheduling.  But the principal said that the school recognizes that the kids in this program are often involved in other things and they try really hard to make it all work.  There is a separate test in the spring for math placement.

While we didn't get a terrible snowstorm like so many of you, it has been freezing freezing freezing here.  Today was the first day all week that the kids were allowed outside for recess.  And I was glad to outside today, let me tell you.  Keeping them cooped up all week about did me in.  You think it would be easier to have indoor recess, but it's really not.

Jacob and Mitch left tonight for the monthly Scout campout.  I hope they don't freeze into Scout popsicles.

Left to our own devices tonight, Sara and I went to Fazoli's for dinner and then did some shopping at Michael's and Barnes & Noble.  Now we're home, watching Mrs. Doubtfire.

How was your week?
