Back to School

Rest assured, dear reader, that I will soon have more blogging time available.  That's right - I'm leaving my job at the end of this month.  Sara's school transportation issues were too much to figure out and once the mortgage company said they were putting just Mitch's name on the loan, I took advantage and gave my notice.  Now I can relax a little about driving kids around and get back to my life of SVU Tuesdays and laundry.

Let's see:  This weekend brought a visit from a high school friend, Chris.  He flew in for work for the weekend so Mitch and I drove to Salt Lake City and met him for dinner.  Dinner was meh, but the company was good.  I was a little nervous, I won't lie, but once we established that neither one of us remembers much about "the good old days", and we stuck to what we did remember, it was all good.  And what we did remember turned out to be his flight out and what I had for lunch on Saturday.

(Important to note that if you see me and ask me if I remember something we did, I will most likely say yes and laugh along with you, but the truth is, I don't remember.  This applies to anything that happened before last week.)

Jacob started 7th grade today.  Middle school.  Wow.  He didn't seem like he was nervous, and today was just 7th graders.  He has tomorrow off and then starts for real on Wednesday.  So we'll see how he likes it.  We went to the open house last week and met all his first semester teachers and they all seem really nice.  Sara starts at her new school tomorrow.  We went on Friday to her open house and saw her classroom and she got to pick her spot - they have tables, not desks - and look around.  She's excited.  I have such high hopes for this year, I hope we're not disappointed.

Jacob's first football game is Saturday morning, 9 AM.  Yikes.  He has to be at the field at 7:45.  This one isn't too bad, since it's at the middle school here in town, but some of the other games are at other schools and I don't think I'll be as excited to be driving around at 7 AM on Saturday morning then.  Even if I'm not working.

Everything is on track with the house.  I think we're just waiting on the VA appraisal right now.  We're getting excited and remaining hopeful that everything will work out.

On a sadder note: Mitch's grandmother passed away earlier this month.  We were unable to make it to Pennsylvania for the funeral with everything else going on and it being so far away.

I think that's all the news right now.  But with school starting, I'm sure there will be more to come!
